William T. Powers, Council Member - Elected 2008, Current Term of Office 2012

­Bill Powers was elected to the Indian Wells City Council in November 2008.  Prior to the el­ect­ion Powers served Indian Wells on both the Golf Course Committee and the Promotion Committee.

In the business of banking since 1964, Powers joined Pacific Western Bank in 1993 as President and Chief Executive Officer.  Prior to moving to the desert in 1986, Powers had a 21 year career with Bank of America, during which time he supervised as many as 30 branch offices in the Los Angeles area.

An actively involved community member, Powers was the recipient of the Desert Samaritan’s for the Elderly Good Samaritan of the Year Award in 2003 recognizing outstanding philanthropic efforts in the Coachella Valley and in 2005 received the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award.  In 2007 Powers was recognized with a Jefferson Award for outstanding community service.  Council Member Powers is proud to serve on the board of many local charitable and civic organizations, including:

Bill and his wife Anita have been residents of Indian Wells for over 20 years.  They have 2 children & are the proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren.
